Description

Yeh and Associates, Inc., Engineering Services Department is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Denver, Colorado office to support our geotechnical engineering services while assisting in design and development for a large variety of projects with varying complexity located throughout the United States. 

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you will work side-by-side professional engineers and geologists leading engineering investigations, evaluations, and designs for foundations, geologic hazards, and geologically designed structures.

 Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geologic Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
• 4-6 years’ experience in the geotechnical engineering field
• Professional Engineer license in Colorado, or ability to obtain professional registration upon hire
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, computational, and technical writing skills
• Strong adherence to safety and an understanding of required safety procedures and provided PPE

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
• Experience with common geotechnical software such as gINT, Slide and/or SLOPE/W, other GeoStudio or Rocscience programs, LPILE and other Ensoft products, MathCAD or similar computational software, and Microsoft applications

Requirements

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate with other technical staff, project managers, and subcontractors to complete routine and complex field exploration programs including geologic hazard assessments, limited access, difficult ground conditions, special permit conditions, geotechnical monitoring instruments, and traffic control
• Assess site and job hazards and prepares Health and Safety Plans 
• Interpret geologic and subsurface information, understand engineering characteristics of the subsurface, and select appropriate methods and analyses for design
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations, develop recommendations, and prepare technical reports for review
• Perform geotechnical engineering analysis for infrastructure and development projects such as for grading, slope stabilization, foundations, settlement, retaining walls, seismic hazards, earth pressures, and pavement design
• Work with project managers to develop engineering cost estimates, proposals, and schedules
• Lead geotechnical design of geologic structures, such as tieback anchors, soil nail walls, MSE walls, landslide and rockfall mitigation, including the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Provide construction observation and engineering support during the construction phases of geotechnical projects

Work environment

• Working outdoors in all types of terrain, weather conditions, and through various stages of construction
• Periodic in-state and out-of-state travel and overnight travel required. Company-provided vehicle, per-diem, and lodging are provided
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
