Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a CNC Programmer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This person will program and operate 5-Axis CNC equipment to produce stainless steel propeller prototypes for outboard engines. This person will develop machining, work holding, tooling, and inspection strategies to facilitate rapid prototyping using state-of-the-art equipment. This person will develop and lead prototyping for all areas in the marine engineering.

What you'll be doing:

• Programming and operation of 5-Axis CNC machine to produce propeller prototypes.
• Learn the YMC processes and procedures associated with propeller prototyping.
• Measure and document prototypes using laser scanning techniques.
• Assist with the process developments that will reduce the time needed to design and qualify propellers.
• Support prototyping initiative for the Marine Innovation Center (3D printing, CNC training, mill & turning prototypes)
• Support Marine Engineer group with product and equipment design projects.

Decision Making Responsibility:

• Responsible for pass/fail dimensional inspection of prototype propellers.
• Authority to determine work methods and experimentation required to improve work methods in the prototyping area.

What you need to be successful:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Journeyman Tool & Die Maker
• 5-10 yrs of programming 5-Axis mills in MasterCAM
• 5-10 yrs or operating 5-Axis milling machines
• 3D laser scan measurement and analysis
• Highly skilled with SolidWorks or other CAD system
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience machining turbine blades or other complex geometry in 5-Axis
• MasterCAM Blade module experience
• Familiarity with machining stainless steels
• Boating experience
