There are a variety of positions at our parks and lodges that range from skilled technicians to skilled trades.

We’re hiring a year-round Maintenance Lead (Old Faithful area) to Live. Work. Explore. in Yellowstone!

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Lead resides in the Old Faithful area in company-provided housing (for a nominal fee). Access to and from the Old Faithful location during the winter season is limited to snowcoach or snowmobile. This position is responsible for troublsehooting and employing the technical skills for the safety operation, repair, maintenance and seasonal opening/closing of Xanterra facilities, equipment and assets.

Responsibilities
  • Perform, lead, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs.
  • Collaborate and orchestrate repair and maintenance work as a team leader. Directing, guiding, and supporting staff through task completion as assigned by Supervisors.
  • Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights.
Qualifications
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills demonstrated by previous employment and education.
  • Demonstrate quality leadership ability to supervise, mentor, and train seasonal Maintenance staff.
  • Innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or perplexing issues.
  • Be receptive to training and be able to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to new situations or changes in assignments or procedures.
  • A working knowledge of applicable OSHA and NFPA safety regulations and requirements, including the ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations which do not meet Code.

Physical Requirements

  • May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with the applicable respiratory protection program regulations.
  • May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces.
  • Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
