POSITION SUMMARY

The Applications Engineer (AE) is responsible for providing customer technical support for the breadth of Xaloy products. The AE seeks opportunities to upsell to Xaloy proprietary solutions, directly interacts with Xaloy global commercial teams in a support role for technical communication with customers, defines scope of product features for quotations, and develops product success case studies for various plastics injection molding and extrusion applications. The AE communicates with customers to fully understand customer requirements and demonstrate the application of Xaloy technologies to provide process solutions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and a high-performance workforce through positive employee relations.

• Conducts technical reviews to understand and interpret customer order/project requirements and expectations.

• Develops functional screw designs through the analysis, interpretation, and application of extrusion and/or injection process information and form/fit dimensions.

• Utilizes predictive tools to validate screw design process capability and limits.

• Operates within defined engineering cycle time metrics.

• Supports product startup and troubleshooting at customer site to ensure effectiveness of product installation.

• Provides product technical support at trade shows.

• Champions and/or participates in development and implementation of product enhancements or other product development project activities.

• Participates in industry technical conferences to demonstrate Xaloy innovation and leadership within the technical market space, which may include professional presentations to small or large groups of attendees.

• Collaborates with design engineering and operations to understand and improve design-for- manufacture specifications, component fabrication techniques and materials of construction.

• Leads root cause analysis and corrective action development and implementation for warranty due to product design/manufacture.

• Travels approximately 10-20% (including international travel to Canada and Mexico) to provide insight support and interaction with customers and global commercial team.

Requirements

 WORK EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plastics process engineering, extrusion and/or injection Molding.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related technical position directly supporting customers

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics (preferred) or Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

• Highly proficient in the use of CAD software, i.e., ACAD or SolidWorks.

• Ability to work safely in a variety of environments and without direct supervision.

• Proactive, organized, project management skills, and able to work with a sense of urgency to meet critical

deadlines.

• High degree of competency in use of all metrology equipment necessary to characterize product geometry.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical

details to non-technical people.

• Ability to read, interpret and compare technical drawings.

• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional team members to identify and solve

problems, resolve conflicts, and optimize opportunities as well as perform as a strong individual contributor.

• Ability to apply active listening and critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain, analyze and apply

information.

• Professional demeanor and communication skills to interface effectively with customers.

• Ability to learn and maintain a strong working knowledge of internal manufacturing procedures and

capabilities.

• Moderate to high degree of personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.

• Ability to fluently speak, write and understand English. Other languages may be required as defined by

assigned territories.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:

• Ability to sit and utilize a computer for up to 8 hours per day

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around an office and industrial environment for up to 8 hours a day

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an infrequent basis

• Ability to bend, kneel, and climb on an occasional basis in an office and industrial setting to evaluate

facility and equipment/products/materials.

• Ability to hear, speak, read, and understand English effectively to communicate with other employees,

agencies, and vendors. Additional language skills may be required dependent upon location served.

• Ability to perform activities related to travel (for example: driving, flying on airplanes, moving throughout

airports) on an infrequent basis, both domestically and internationally (approximately 60-70%).
