Wyndham Garden Norfolk is Hiring a HOTEL CHIEF ENGINEER Near Norfolk, VA

The Wyndham Garden Norfolk Downtown, a full service hotel with 204 rooms and suites located in Downtown Norfolk, VA, has an outstanding opportunity for an Experienced Hotel Chief Engineer. This is a hands-on position and will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the property as well as the supervision of maintenance staff. The Chief Engineer must have proven knowledge and experience to maintain the entire hotel facility, including physical hotel structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment, in accordance with conservation and preventive maintenance programs. Specialization in these trades are required. An ability to advance knowledge in these areas is essential.The Chief Engineer reports directly to the AGM - VP Ops.
 
Requirements:
  • Prior experience as Hotel Chief Engineer a MUST
  • Making sure that guest room requests are followed up and proper records are kept
  • Flexible schedule, available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as business demand.
  • Available and ready to answer emergency calls overnight if needed
  • Ensure all phone equipment and internet is in working order
  • Maintain MSDS and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/
  • Maintain inventory and PAR levels
  • Maintain Safety and Emergency Preparedness Procedure
  • Ensure the upkeep of the guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel
  • Meets with vendors and suppliers to discuss scope of, and products and materials used in, repair activities.
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, etc.
  • Extensive experience in hotel plumbing, HVAC, boiler and electrical systems is a must
  • kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, pool and pool equipment, lighting, laundry equipment and other systems/equipment as directed.
  • Driving – limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment etc. Generally within 20 miles
  • A positive, winning attitude a must
  • Other duties as assigned
 Education:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as Chief engineer in a hotel environment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing plus six years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services for a hotel or hotels. 
  • Needs experience in technical crafts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems etc.). Specialization in these trades are required. An ability to advance knowledge in these areas is essential.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing and carrying weights up to 25 lbs. and greater for all hotel equipment and machinery
  • Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times
  • Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day
  • Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs maintenance of the hotel property, equipment and machinery
Certification and/or License Requirements:
  • Professional certification and licensure if required by law. Minimum Type III EPA Certification for refrigerant reclamation and charging as well as CPO.
