Nature of Work
This is an entry-level position in the General Microbiology Section. Under close supervision, this position will perform analytical, diagnostic, and epidemiological laboratory testing. Primarily responsible for conducting high complexity testing for reference and enteric bacteriology, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and vaccine preventable disease surveillance. This position will conduct a variety of laboratory tests and analyses according to standard operating procedures, safely and effectively operates and maintains scientific instruments, performs quality control and quality assessment procedures, maintains stock reagents and consumables, and interprets data under close supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a biological, microbiological, chemical, or environmental science, medical technology, molecular biology, forensic science or related field.
Special Requirement: For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have or be eligible for licensure as a WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner as required by 64 C.S.R.§57.
