Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC is Hiring a Physician Assistant - Occupational Medicine (workers comp) - Aurora Near Aurora, CO

Job Description:

Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC is seeking a Physician Assistant for our Aurora Southeast clinic located at 2550 S. Parker Road in Aurora.

Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC is a specialized medical provider that treats work-related injuries and provides occupational health services for employees of our business clients. We have eight (8) welcoming, comfortable walk-in clinics in Northern Colorado, the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs with medical providers who are ready to treat your employees with an on-the-job injury or illness.

This is a position will be regularly scheduled to work a 5-day schedule, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Starting pay range is $58.00 - $70.00/hour plus incentive program. Applicants with prior work experience in occupational medicine, sports medicine or orthopedics, preferred.

Organizational Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the values, mission and vision of Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supports the facilities positive interaction with others as evidenced by: professional maturity, respect for others, a team centered approach, maintenance of confidential information and appreciation of a variety of viewpoints and diversity in the workplace.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills, including proper use of corporate communication systems and chain of command.
  • Supports the strategic plan of Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC as evidenced by a working knowledge of the plan and participation in completing elements of the plan as requested.
  • Participates in strategic planning activities as requested by Executive Team.

Job Functions:

  • Provide healthcare to patients in clinic or via tele-medicine according to the established principles of clinical practice and the current organizational plan or need.
  • Represent Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC, in your service area, to local medical societies, hospitals, professional organizations, groups and agencies, meeting with local employers, serving as a liaison between Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC and these organizations as well as participating in community activities as necessary to promote the strategic plan of Workwell Occupational Medicine, LLC.
    • Problem solve as necessary with local employers as needed to obtain optimum patient outcomes and ensure excellence in communication. If unable to reach a resolution or an issue requires corporate assistance will escalate the issue to Medical Director/ Manager.
  • Review each patient’s medical history
  • Perform history and physical exams on each client requiring a MD exam
  • Review abnormal findings and make recommendations regarding the same
  • Act as a resource for patient questions and concerns
  • Act as a medical consultant/advisor regarding the medical status of the clients presenting for physical examinations for the staff.
  • Provide work restrictions for those clients examined for return to work
  • Provide medical evaluations for initial injury evaluations for employees as requested.
  • Complete the initial report of injury for all employees seen
  • Identify causality for all injuries treated
  • Contact employers as necessary
  • Coordinate evaluations for temporary and permanent disability
    • Perform DOT physical exams to FMCSA and Workwell standards
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with the medical treatment guidelines from the State of Colorado Workers’ Compensation Division.
  • Maintain Level I or current training by the State of Colorado Workers’ Compensation Division.
  • Provide appropriate medical care, treatment, referral and follow-up to personal injury patients.
Required Experience:
  • Master’s degree and appropriate licensure to work as a Physician Assistant
  • Unrestricted Colorado Medical licensure with no active stipulations
  • 2 years' experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care or Family Practice, preferred.
  • It is the responsibility of the advanced practice provider to ensure that all elements required for professional licensure are met and continue to be met – including ensuring that timely and appropriate physician supervision documentation meeting board requirements is in place.
  • Active full DEA licensure
  • Level I and QPOP training certificate accreditation by the State of Colorado Workers’ Compensation Division (or obtained as soon as possible via a Division Course)
  • Maintain/obtain (within 90 days of hire) FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification
  • Skills in exercising a high-degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives in a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Customer service oriented, Strong organizational skills and ability to develop relationships with staff, patients and clients.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
