Job Description
- Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to handle steel materials, including coils, sheets, bars, and other products.
- Load and unload steel materials from trucks, railcars, and other delivery vehicles, following proper safety procedures and protocols.
- Transport steel products to designated storage areas within the warehouse, ensuring proper placement and organization.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately recording incoming and outgoing shipments, including product counts and locations.
- Conduct routine inspections of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment or materials.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to fulfill customer orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sweeping, stacking, and storing materials as needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate tasks and address any issues or concerns.
- Participate in training programs to learn how to operate overhead cranes safely and effectively.
- Operate overhead cranes as needed to move heavy or oversized steel materials, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, if applicable, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment in a fast-paced environment, preferably within the steel or construction industry.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work either first or second shift as needed.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects, including steel materials.
- Willingness to learn and operate overhead cranes, with the ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for forklift operation and warehouse activities.Top of Form
- Pay rate: 1 st Shift $ 18.00 2 nd Shift $18.00 HR plus shift premium
- 30-minute lunch and 2 15-minute breaks
- 1st Shift 5:30am to 2:00 p.m. Overtime often required on Saturdays.)
- 2nd Shift 2:00PM – 10:30PM
- Moderate paced work
- 8 Hour Shift
- Weekly Pay
- Referral Bonus
