We are seeking a skilled Overhead Crane Operator to join our team. As an Overhead Crane Operator, you will be responsible for operating overhead cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads within a manufacturing or industrial setting. You will also be responsible for various packaging and banding duties. This is a full-time 1st Shift position with a local steel distributor. Your role will play a critical part in ensuring efficient material handling, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining the overall productivity of our operations.
Responsibilities:

• Safely operate overhead cranes to lift and move heavy materials, products, or equipment within the designated work area.
• Review work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to determine the type and quantity of materials to be moved and the best approach to perform the lifting operation.
• Inspect and maintain the crane equipment, ensuring that it is in proper working condition before and after each use.
• Maneuver the crane by following established procedures and signals from spotters or colleagues on the ground to ensure precise placement of loads.
• Monitor the load being lifted for stability and balance throughout the lifting process, making adjustments as necessary to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Comply with all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to materials or equipment.
• Keep accurate records of materials moved, work performed, and any incidents or maintenance issues related to the crane operation.
• Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material handling and crane usage, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Overhead Crane Operator or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices related to crane operation.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience operating different types of cranes, such as gantry cranes, jib cranes, or mobile cranes.
• Familiarity with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of crane equipment.

Details:

• Pay rate: 1st Shift $18.00
• 2nd Shift $18.75
• 30-minute lunch and 2 15-minute breaks
• 1st Shift 5:30am to 3:30p.m. Overtime often required on Saturdays.)
