**Job Responsibilities:**
- Lay building materials such as concrete and brick, constructing or repairing masonry surfaces and structures.
- Prepare surfaces meticulously before commencing work.
- Follow blueprints, plans, or drawings to lay blocks or bricks accurately.
- Utilize chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels to lay out work precisely.
- Mix cement proficiently using appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using a brick ruler.
- Employ hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and hand tools to cut or break bricks and concrete.
- Mold expansion joints and edges with precision.
- Execute finish masonry work, including mortar installation and block or brick parge.
- Erect staging or scaffolding as required for the job.
- Screen sand and mix it with cement and water to achieve the necessary consistency.
- Ensure all work is plumb and level, erecting wooden or metal supports as needed.
- Smooth mortar and remove excess material with a trowel.
**Requirements:**
- Dependable and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Physically capable of handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, as well as performing activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and material handling.
- Willingness to wear appropriate protective equipment, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing apparatus, and hard hats.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of one to three years' experience in general masonry.
- Must possess basic masonry tools.
- Availability to travel to different job sites.
- Capable of climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds and ladders, and lifting objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Experience working on historic properties is advantageous.
