Woodside Hotel Group Ltd. is Hiring a Spa Attendant, Part-time, Vista Blue Spa, Monterey Plaza Hotel Near Monterey, CA

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property within the Woodside Hotel Group collection. This 290 room property has four penthouse suites, over 17,000 square feet of meeting space, expansive exterior space known as the Plaza, the Promenade and the Terrace, and an award-winning food and beverage program. Banquets, Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, Helmsman Lounge, Tidal Coffee, and Room Service provide guests, groups, and local visitors numerous dining options. Vista Blue Spa offers a wide array of services in an outstanding location on the penthouse suite level and hosts the Fitness Center in addition to retail and sundries. We are seeking a Spa Attendant to join our outstanding Vista Blue Spa team.

Creating a spotlessly clean and comfortable spa is one of the most important responsibilities of our Spa Attendants. They do this by assisting the therapists in cleansing the treatment rooms, cleaning the locker rooms and removing the soiled linen. Additionally, they are responsible for back of the house operations including product preparation for the same day and following day, hydrotherapy preparations and appointments. And in all their guest interactions, they demonstrate the Woodside Spirit by providing warm and gracious service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs daily general cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in the facility.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the sauna areas and their sanitation.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • Responsible for general opening of the Spa facility, (turning on lights, music, steam sauna, etc.)
  • Replenishes guest amenities, robes, slippers and towels when necessary.
  • Maintains the supplies on the locker rooms, treatment area and wet areas neat and presentable.
  • Maintains the lounge bars and wet areas, repairs facial treatment equipment and supplies daily.
  • Performs special projects delegated by the Spa Captain and/or Spa Director.
  • Performs whatever is necessary to ensure and maintain a pleasant visit for each guest.
  • Conducts tours of the Spa facility.
  • Maintains the spa laundry inventory.
  • Issues robes, slippers and locker keys to guests receiving spa treatments.
  • Monitors the appointment schedule to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Maintains bimonthly inventory of all spa supplies and needs.
  • Regularly monitors locker rooms when available.
  • Participates in cross training in all facets of the hydrotherapy and body treatment, i.e. Vichy shower, Swiss shower and whirlpool and locker room and facilities operation.
  • Maintains cleanliness and neatness of the facility, inside (including the fitness center) and outside (including the outdoor whirlpool and sundeck) in order to ensure personal service in an immaculate environment.
  • Knows front desk operations including reservations systems, filing systems, sales systems and guest check in procedures.
  • Greets every guest in a friendly, courteous and professional manner in an effort to ensure a pleasant visit for each guest.
  • Continuously follows all spa policies.
  • Attends daily shift meeting for team building.
  • Assists in other departments when necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Hotel facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be an energetic and enthusiastic individual.
  • Able to work under pressure with ease.
  • Must have a desire to learn new techniques in the spa industry.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Must have a high school diploma. Must have a minimum of one year in the administration of hydrotherapy and body treatments experience. One-year spa experience in the operation of the locker room and facilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPR/First Aid Certification is required.

PAY SCALE

The pay scale for this position is $19.75, with the position being eligible for a potential increase after 6 months.
