Woodside Hotel Group Ltd. is Hiring a Massage Therapist, Full-time, Limited, Vista Blue Near Monterey, CA

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property within the Woodside Hotel Group collection. This 290 room property has four penthouse suites, over 17,000 square feet of meeting space, expansive exterior space known as the Plaza, the Promenade and the Terrace, and an award-winning food and beverage program. Banquets, Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, Helmsman Lounge, Tidal Coffee, and Room Service provide guests, groups, and local visitors numerous dining options. Vista Blue Spa offers a wide array of services in an outstanding location on the penthouse suite level and hosts the Fitness Center in addition to retail and sundries.

We are seeking massage therapists to join our outstanding Vista Blue Spa team.

Taking a holistic approach, our massage therapists employ techniques designed to nourish and soothe mind, body and soul. As certified professionals, they provide massage therapy and body treatments, meeting the spa's high quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Restock and maintain supplies and linens in all treatment rooms.
  • Prepares and maintain the massage and body treatment areas daily.
  • Administers various types of massages and body treatments to the guests.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Assists in maintaining the work are clean and organized by picking up soiled towels, used cups, etc.
  • Regularly monitors locker rooms and pool area when available.
  • Participates in cross training to provide other related body treatments.
  • Greets every guest in a friendly, courteous and professional manner in an effort to ensure a pleasant visit for each guest.
  • Performs various massage types: Swedish, Sports, Shiatsu and Reflexology.
  • Promotes recommends and sells massage and body products by using the prescription pad.
  • Uses only specific amounts of professional products given.
  • Completes 2 non-massage treatments a month at set rate given by the Spa Director to front of the house associates.
  • Regularly checks the appointment schedule after every treatment.
  • After each treatment cleans the treatment room unless otherwise instructed.
  • Assists other departments as necessary.
  • Massages body, using such techniques as kneading, rubbing, and stroking flesh, to stimulate blood circulation, relax contracted muscles, facilitate elimination of waste matter, or to relieve other conditions.
  • Provides a daily report of treatments performed and submits the report to the supervisor for signature.
  • Performs special projects delegated by the Spa Supervisor and/or Spa Director.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Hotel facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Able to perform various types of massage, i.e. Swedish, sports, shiatsu, reflexology.
  • Must be proficient in all components of massage therapy, i.e. Anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, etc.
  • Must be proficient in doing a variety of body treatments i.e. exfoliation, masks and wraps.
  • Must be willing to learn and try new techniques within the spa industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be patient, an effective and courteous listener and able to show empathy.
  • Must be an energetic and enthusiastic individual.
  • Able to work under pressure with ease.
  • Knowledgeable and up to date on the latest developments pertinent to the department and becomes well versed and trained in their application.
  • The ability to write clear and concise reports, i.e. Daily treatment reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma. Must have a minimum of 500 hours of education or a portfolio of massage history. Must have a minimum of two years experience in Massage therapy and one year Spa experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have passed the National Certification Exam and must have a license or certification from an accredited school. CPR/First-Aid Certification is required.

All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

PAY SCALE

The pay scale for this position is $16.00 non-service/hour and $44.00 service/hour, plus gratuities.
