Salary: $65000 / year depending upon experience

Job Summary

The Grants Accounting Specialists vital responsibilities include grants accounting oversight for Woods, supporting our aim to expand grants activity to assist our programs in providing education, treatment, and care for some of our nation’s most vulnerable children and adults. Woods Services' annual revenue is approaching $150 million.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and maintaining an efficient and effective grant tracking and reporting system that ensures grant records are accurately coded, recorded, and reported and reflect the intention of the funder.
  • Maintains rigorous funder records and implements an organized system of communication to steward grant partnerships and manage funds in accordance with appropriate recognition of revenue.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Woods team, including development and program staff, to meet deadlines, the timing of submissions and requests, and facilitates information-sharing.
  • Provides support with joint grant applications among Woods and its affiliates in multiple States.
  • Be instrumental in offering guidance, sourcing financial data, and project coordination during the process of developing budgets for grant applications.
  • Creates and manages regular grant and financial reporting for internal review by senior leadership, board members, and other interested parties.
  • Submits grant reporting to federal and state entities and drawdown funds in a timely manner.
  • Be fully familiar with GAAP accounting requirements and their application in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Oversees grant compliance with federal statutes under 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), as well as state and local regulations, and monitors all purchasing guidelines set forth therein.
  • Be an integral part of the month-close process and annual audit preparation responsibilities.
  • Participates in the annual budget process to ensure all grant activity is correctly presented and supported.
  • Maintains and reconciles restricted net asset schedules.
  • Prepares, reviews, and inputs journal entries to our Microsoft Dynamics GP general ledger system.
  • Manages close-out of awards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management preferred.
  • 3 years of grant and contract accounting/management experience demonstrating competency in grant accounting including managing federal, state, county, and private grants.
  • Prior relevant experience expected, ideally with a comparable not-for-profit company.
  • Prior grant accounting/reporting experience is required.
  • A hybrid work location of remote/on-site may be considered for this position.
