Job Summary

The Food Service Assistant for TWE is responsible for maintaining kitchen in an orderly and sanitary condition. Responsible for the overall daily operation of the kitchen, including serving food to individuals and staff. Responsible for assisting in the training of individual client workers who are assigned to work in the kitchen. Follow DPW and health department regulations, as well as Woods Services policies and procedures. 

  1. Prepares and serves all meals to TWE individuals and staff members in accordance with DOH guidelines and Woods Services policies and procedures.
  2. Receives food as it arrives; takes and records food temperatures upon arrival and when served. Submits food temperature sheets to supervisor weekly. Calls FNC immediately if food temperatures do not meet requirements.
  3. Familiarize and implement client diet program on an individual basis.
  4. Responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of the TWE cafeteria, kitchen, and office, including but not limited to: cleaning and polishing the exterior of cabinets; cleaning appliances, counter tops, and serving wells throughout the day and after meal service; sweeping and mopping behind the line and throughout the cafeteria after lunch has been served; discard all kitchen trash and separately bagged recycling; clean and organize interior of cabinets and open shelving units.
  5. Provides ongoing assistance, instruction, and supervision to assigned client workers. Insures work tasks are completed correctly and maintains consistent and accurate records of client behavior, work performance and payroll. Reports concerns to management immediately for assistance.
  6. Displays teamwork and works in collaboration with TWE housekeepers and residential staff to insure smooth and timely food prep and distribution at meal times.
  7. Responsible to calibrate thermometers daily and the accurate temperature taking and recording of all food, water and equipment in the TWE kitchen area. Submitting temperature sheets to the director, as required.
  8. Ensures all food is stored properly and labeled with a date.
  9. Keeps a written record of food received, as well as overages and shortages.
  10. Receives, organizes and stores deliveries. Takes inventory to determine needs for standard order and requisitioned orders. Submits orders to supervisor, as necessary.
  11. Attends and participates in training sessions, in-service days, staff meetings, and special event assignments, as assigned.
  12. Prepares, tests for and maintains ServSafe certification.
  13. Maintains a clean and organized kitchen and office space.
  14. Displays professionalism and maintains effective relationships with all levels of staff and management at all times.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma perffered.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
