Salary: Starting at $15.50 / hour

Job Summary

The Vocational Driver / Production Assistant drives truck to deliver/pick up contract materials to/from customers and performs related material handling duties. Material handling duties consist of inventory control; unloading/loading truck; replenishing workstations and preparing materials for shipment. Assists the Production Control Coordinator (PCC) in the daily operations of the workshop, including assisting clients with work tasks. Completes program-related driving as well as vehicle inspections and upkeep.

  • Deliver/pick up/receive materials to and from customer sites; arrange for delivery of materials
  • Assist PCC in setting up and breaking down the workshop floor in preparation/closure of the workshop
  • Assist PCC with training staff and clients on how to complete a job according to the specifications of the customer; complete necessary job steps to assist in meeting production quotas
  • Assist clients with work activities and procedures; work one on one with clients performing material handling duties when necessary; work with Vocational Instructors/Supervisors to break down tasks for clients and implement compensatory strategies to enable them to do the work
  • Perform material handling duties related to contract work; perform inventory control of work materials to maintain contract supplies; notify PCC if additional materials are needed; secure completed work in designated storage and warehouse areas; organize and maintain storage and warehouse areas
  • Work jointly with the PCC to communicate pertinent information to maintain positive customer relations and attain accurate work supplies
  • Maintain accurate record keeping, shipping and receiving documentation
  • Complete monthly inspections and keep up with the maintenance of the TWE vehicles and pallet jacks; report any problems to management immediately
  • Fulfill all necessary duties in the absence of the PCC
  • Complete program-related driving duties
  • Assist in crisis intervention with client behaviors
  • Attend and participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and in-service training sessions
  • Maintain effective relationships with all levels of staff and management
  • Respect shared office space
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency
  • Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
  • Proof of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up, and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills and proficient in standard office software. Able to navigate an electronic health record.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license. Proof of valid automobile insurance submitted annually.
  • Must pass and maintain a physical exam for the Department of Transportation.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Forklift Academy training within first month of employment.
