    PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Specialist develops and implements the strategic vision in all areas of instructional technology for the district by working with educators and school administrators to ensure that the technology programs and services meet educational needs that align with the district's goals and initiatives. The Specialist will facilitate the integration of digital tools and best practices into curriculum and administrative systems. Integrating Woodland's Equity and Inclusion practices into all areas of educational technology. The Specialist oversees staff development opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of staff as it relates to integrating technology into academic programming.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. License: Illinois Professional Educator License with a Technology Specialist Endorsement
    2. Education:
      1. Required - Bachelor's Degree in Technology Integration or equivalent
      2. Preferred - Master's Degree in Technology Integration or equivalent
    3. Experience:
      1. Required - Five (5) years of successful classroom teacher or technology specialist experience at the elementary and/or middle school level, plus professional development experience.
      2. Preferred - Five (5) years of successful classroom teacher or technology specialist experience at the elementary and/or middle school level, plus professional development experience. Experience in a public-school setting.
    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Leads, develops and enhances technology practices of all educational staff in the implementation of innovative technology infused, and content-based lessons in support of the Illinois Learning Standards.
    2. Maintains and manages the Makerspace and collaborates with teachers on using resources within that space.
    3. Maintains constant monitoring of national best practice models in technology integration in curriculum, interventions and instructional methodologies and aligns Woodland's practices to these models.
    4. Collaborates with the educational staff on the implementation Woodland's technology curriculum based upon the NETS standards.
    5. Maintains electronic learning resources for teachers, staff and students including: web sites, tutorials, instructional videos, interactive programs and databases for integrating technology.
    6. Proactively provides direct consistent assistance and training to school instructional staff in the integration of technology to support student achievement.
    7. Regularly develops small group training sessions and video tutorials for new, innovative and common instructional technologies.
    8. Develops tutorials and training sessions to help staff navigate internet/network-based intervention, assessment and data management sites.
    9. Assists in the creation, maintenance and integration of the district technology plan and future budgetary planning.
    10. Develops long range technology goals in with school staff and the technology department for exploring and implementing technology innovation in the district.
    11. Applies for technology related grants and community outreach projects based upon district needs.
    12. Assists in writing and updating of district technology plan and policies.
    13. Participates in team, department, school and district level meetings, and administrative meetings to assist in technology integration for district needs.
    14. Researches best practices in content areas and teaching methodologies to proactively recommend technology enhancements for instructional plans and activities to meet the needs of Woodland students.
    15. Researches best practices of effective management methods to proactively recommend technology enhancements for administrative staff.
    16. Contributes and models a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.

    1. Planning and Preparation - Responsible for demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources. Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students learning.
    2. Classroom Environment - Responsible for creating an environment of respect and establishes a culture for learning, manages classroom procedures, manages student's behavior, and has the ability to organize physical space.
    3. Instruction - Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
    4. Professional Responsibility - Reflects on teaching, must maintain accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism.

    Technical: Must be able to utilized a white board/smartboard, iPads with various apps, online assessment tools, Microsoft Office and Google programs, and district email/voicemail systems.

    Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses and community. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Must have the ability to lead and support paraprofessional staff in the classroom and collaborate with all related service providers. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people. Must have strong organizational skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordination performance.

    Physical Effort: Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist, i.e., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time 10 Month 185 days Union Position; Exempt Status; Monday thru Friday; 8:20 AM - 3:55 PM

    SALARY RANGE: Based on experience and education as defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
