    Position Title: Multi-Media Specialist

    PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position will work directly with the Communications Manager in support of the school district's internal and external communication program. The Communication Team works to enhance public awareness and understanding of district programs and initiatives. This position will also serve as a critical backup for emergency or crisis communication when the Communications Manager is out of the district.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. License: N/A
    2. Education:
      1. Required - Possess or be in the process of obtaining an Associates' Degree in Communications, Media Production, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related degree or equivalent experience.
      2. Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Media Production, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related degree or equivalent experience.
    3. Experience:
      1. Required - Two (2) years' experience in communications, digital media, content creation, website editing, and video/media production. Experience in creating effective marketing materials and tools. Experience working with diverse cultures and audiences.
      2. Preferred - Two (2) years' experience in communications, digital media, content creation, website editing, and video/media production, in a public school-setting. Experience in creating effective marketing materials and tools. Experience working with diverse cultures and audiences.
    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Website: Content creator and editor. Responsible for tracking website analytics, researching best practices, complying with website accessibility standards.
    • Social Media: Content development, event coverage, analytics, continue to expand social media presence and reach.
    • Video: Assists in the development and production of video and digital content for social media, websites, and presentations
    • Events: Assists in the creation of creative multimedia content for special events and other purposes as assigned. District and school event promotion and coverage.
    • Virtual Backpack: Coordinates the Virtual Backpack and the approval of flyers and information distribution by internal and external organizations and community groups
    • Newsletter Creation: Assists with creating content and assembling information for the weekly district newsletter.
    • In collaboration and under the direction of the Communications Manager, provides backup support for emergency or crisis communication.
    OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assist in other areas as needed.
    2. Complete other duties as needed.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Technical: Exceptional writing and editing skills for websites and social media. Knowledge and skills related to videography, video editing, and video production. Knowledge and ability to work with graphic design applications. Ability to work with website content management systems, website accessibility standards, and website analytics tracking. Working knowledge of ADA compliance requirements related to digital media. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, must be able to utilize networking, printers to perform work, etc. Must be able to use the district email system, Google platforms, Microsoft Office, and the district's attendance system.

    Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, students, businesses and community. Must have strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills; a strong sense of teamwork; and attention to detail. Must be able to cope with deadline pressures; make difficult decisions that impact the organization in a positive sense; work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc.; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, parents and staff; exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people; and follow directives given by Administration. Must also be a creative problem solver; and empathetic, humanistic and open-minded.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordination performance.

    Physical Effort: Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist, i.e., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc. Must be able to travel within and outside of the district. Must be available for evenings and weekend work/events.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260-Day, Part-time, union Non-Exempt position

    SALARY RANGE: As defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement

    EVALUATION: Conducted annually
