Wolverine State Credit Union is Hiring a Branch Manager Near Branch, MI

SummaryResponsible for coordinating, overseeing, and leading branch operations, service, and sales activity. Ensures established policies and procedures are followed. Oversees operation of a full range of services to members and prospective members including, lending, member service, security, and safety in accordance with Credit Union policies and objectives. Ensures members are promptly and professionally served. Trains, directs, and supervises branch staff. Acts as a consumer loan officer, teller, or MSO as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Oversee daily branch operations in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Implements changes to established policies and procedures within the branch as needed. Coordinates changes with other department leads as needed.
  • Ensures all branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day.
  • Oversees individual accountability for the handling of cash and assists Vault Teller with resolving balancing problems.
  • Assists the vault teller with cash ordering and refilling and balancing the ATM.
  • Periodically verifies cash in possession of Member Service Representatives and cash on the premises.
  • Directly supervises all branch personnel. Ensures high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained. Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks.
  • Leads staff by exemplifying core values, providing support and guidance daily.
  • Conducts regular meetings with branch employees to inform and train. Discusses areas needing improvement and changes in procedure.
  • Ensures personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Completes orientation of new employees in overall branch procedures. Performs cross training as necessary.
  • Ensures personnel are effective and optimally used. Determines appropriate staffing levels for proper utilization of human resources.
  • Tracks individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least bi-annually.
  • Works with HR to formulate and implement corrective action as needed.
  • Approves all sick leave, vacation, overtime, and timecards for each branch employee on a weekly basis.
  • Ensures members' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles members' complaints at the branch level.
  • Ensures members are informed of Credit Union services and policies. Counsels members regarding their financial needs and services requested. Cross sells credit union products and services.
  • Ensures the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
  • Continually seeks ways to improve branch operations and productivity and to meet established goals.
  • Prepares periodic branch activity reports and makes recommendations to management for improvements.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal.
  • Ensures adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available for personnel.
  • Keeps management informed of branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems. Requests assistance when necessary.
  • Fills in and performs duties in branch positions as needed.
  • Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new operational procedures.
  • Involved in community outreach and volunteering for events hosted by the credit union.
  • Participate in branch networking opportunities. Represent and promote the credit union within the business community. Participate in community events and educational seminars. These functions may be after normal business hours.
Additional Position Expectations
  • Assist leaders of other departments with compliance, policy and procedure expectations.
  • Participate on committees and special projects.
  • Seek additional responsibilities as available.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal.
  • Complete all relevant BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) training pertinent to role and demonstrate strict adherence to BSA policies and procedures.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure outstanding service to internal and external members is delivered in alignment with our core values.

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Additional coursework in business or finance preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a financial institution with progressive responsibility.

Physical and Mental Activities and Requirements:While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel to perform their duties. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk around the branch to perform their duties. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
The employee for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machine, calculator, imaging equipment, postage meter, computer terminal, personal computer and printers.
This position may require travel by automobile between branches on occasion.
This position requires the employee to make decisions in a timely manner and anticipate all of the potential ramifications of decisions made.
The employee must be ability to read, and interpret documents, understand/follow complex written and oral instructions, be able to express oneself clearly/concisely, perform mathematical functions and handle multiple, concurrent tasks.
Must show initiative, tact and maturity, have an aptitude for research, exhibit good communication and presentation skills.
This position requires regular and predictable attendance.
