Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for assigned patients by the use and implementation of the Nursing Process of assessment, derivation of the nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and re-evaluation of the care by using a holistic approach. The staff nurse is also responsible for preparing the patient and significant other for obtaining and maintaining an optimal level of health, in preparation for their discharge. The Staff Nurse is also responsible for the direct supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse and the Nursing Assistant, when applicable. The staff nurse is a contributing member to the multi-disciplinary Health Care Team and must be able to communicate the needs of the patient/significant others to all disciplines involved in the patient's hospitalization.
Work Experience:
CCU: | One year of prior CCU experience preferred. CPR, ACLS and PALS required. |
ED: | ACLS, PALS, NRP and CPI required. TNCC and ENPC preferred. Prior ER experience preferred. |
MED/SURG: | Med/Surg experience preferred. CPR, ACLS and PALS required. |
OB: | Basic fetal monitoring interpretation preferred. Previous OB/Post-Partum/NICU experience preferred. CPR, ACLS, and NRP required. |
OR/PAR: | Previous Surgery experience preferred or prior critical care experience. CPR, ACLS and PALS required. |
ACS | Prefer 2 years of general nursing experience. CPR, ACLS & PALS required. Requires high level of skill R/T infusion therapy to include intravenous insertion, port access and safe care of peripheral central venous catheters. |
Wound Care & Hematology Oncology | Prefer 2 years of general nursing experience. CPR, ACLS required. Requires high level of skill R/T infusion therapy to include intravenous care. Wound care requires certification in wound nursing care and HBOT. Hematology Oncology requires high level of confidence related to high risk medications. |
PAIN CENTER | Prefer 2 years of general nursing experience. CPR, ACLS required. Requires high level of skill R/T procedures, such as pain pumps, moderate sedation, epidural injections, and pain port access and safe care.. |
PRE/POST TRIAGE NURSE | Required minimum 3-5 year's Med/Surg experience, Ambulatory Surgery Department experience preferred. CPR, ACLS & PALS required. |
TRANSITIONS: | CPI training required within 6 months of hire. Prefer 1-2 year's geriatric or psychiatric experience. CPR & CPI required. |
CATH LAB/CARDIAC DIAGNOSTIC | Previous clinical experience preferred. CPR, ACLS required. |
ECU: | CPR, ACLS, TB and IV certification required. Abuse and Reporting, LTC Resident Rights and Dementia/Elder Justice training required. LTC experience preferred. |
