Wisconsin Independent Learning College, Inc. - Autism Specific is Hiring an Executive Director Near Waukesha, WI

Wisconsin Independent Learning College Inc. (WILC) has been serving young adults with Autism for twelve years. Our participants gain skills for greater independence and employment while participating in community and work environments. We have a staff of creative and talented coaches and teachers who support the goals of our participants. We own our facility and have aggressive plans for growth in the near future.

WILC is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization in its mission to serve adults with Autism. The ED will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing day to day operations, cultivating partnerships, and ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization.

The ED must share the expectation that adults with neurodiversity who desire continued learning should have the opportunity to reach their goals for independence, and believe that persons with Autism are intelligent and valuable members of society.

The ED will reinforce the WILC mission to provide each participant with the necessary support so that they may not only have success in reaching their goals but also become inspired to achieve their purpose in life.

Responsibilities:

-Serves as the liaison between the Board and Staff

-Represents WILC through correspondence, community presentations and media interviews

-Maintains contact with guardians of participants, funding agencies and community businesses and services to serve the interests of our participants

-Plans and develops programs which ensure WILC is meeting the needs of participants

-Develops, implements, secures potential funding sources, prepares grant requests and writes appeal letters

-Prepares the operating budget, monthly financial reports and participates on the committees for fundraising

-Attends Board meetings with prepared monthly reports

-Completes other tasks as assigned by the Board of Directors

Professional qualifications:
-Experience interacting with a Board of Directors, donors and community leaders

-Bachelor degree or higher education is required, knowledge of autism spectrum disorders preferred

-Experience in budget development, grant procurement, staff development and fundraising as well as nonprofit financial reporting

-Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget

-Commitment to and advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion and access

-Strong written, verbal and technology skills, with the ability to be a persuasive and passionate communicator

-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and in all levels of an organization

-Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

-Flexible and adaptable; able to work in a dynamic environment

Work environment qualifications:

-Personal/Physiological: Interaction with people, working around people, planning of activities, making judgements in emergency situations, frequent changes in duties and volume of work, intra-organizational communication

-Physical activity: Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one workspace to another. May remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Expect times of standing, walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling; frequent reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, typing, talking-speaking clearly, hearing-conversation, and seeking nearby objects.

-Work/environment: Moderate noise level consistent with an office environment with occasional higher noise level and frequent interruptions

-Physical requirements: light work that includes exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently.
