    JF Kennedy Elementary School The Tree House Program Leader - to be responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordinates before and afterschool innovative programming in alignment with school-based themes, health and wellness, academic enrichments and recreation. The Tree House Program Leader supports, and monitors staff implementing activities/enrichments and homework help for students in grades 3-5. The program leader adheres to/follow all district board policies, state laws and guidelines set by the Office of Early Childhood/CT Afterschool Network. Work under the direction of the Office of Family and Community Partnership and the supervision of the Family Resource Center Coordinator
    Essential Job Function:
    Plan age-appropriate theme based activities, ensure afterschool curriculum is implemented and lead regular staff meetings for the Tree House Program to serve the diverse needs of the children in the program .
    Ensure a nurturing, comfortable atmosphere and relationship with all children.
    Establish a welcoming, friendly and cooperative relationship with school and Tree House staff.
    Communicate effectively with families, staff and children about program changes, challenges and successes.
    Promote positive relationships and recruit students for the program within the school community.
    Interview and orient staff assigned to the before and afterschool program under the direction of the Family Resource Center Coordinator.
    Schedule staff work hours to meet the needs of students per school schedule.
    Supervise, maintain and evaluate/redirect group leaders for Tree House at the school site and certify time clock entries of staff for payroll using Frontline.
    Report regularly to Office of Family and Community Partnership student enrollment, payments, student behavior, family and staffing success/challenges.
    Maintain and monitor enrollment of children including maintenance of all required program, medical and health records through the Eleyo System.
    Report all suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to the Department of Families and Children with notification to the Office of Family and Community Partnership and the Building Principal.
    Ensure all Tree House staff attend professional development/training programs as coordinated with the Office of Family and Community Partnership.
    Procure supplies and food in collaboration with the school Family Resource Center Coordinator.
    Attend meetings/trainings as required by the Office of Family and Community Partnership.
    Work Day:
    Monday - Friday: The before school hours are from 6:45am-9am and the after school hours are from 2:30pm-6:15pm
    Half Day of School (14 per calendar year): Hours are 1pm - 6:15pm
    Snow Days/School Holidays (school holidays when program is open) hours are 6:45am-6:15pm
    Holiday/Vacation Breaks (December/April): Hours are 6:45am-6:15pm (split shift in 4 hour increments)
    Work Year:
    The work year includes the school day calendar, early release days, professional development days, holidays and vacation days that the Tree House program is open (additional days will be preapproved by the Director of the Office of Family and Community Partnership).
    Work Year may include up to 197 days (10 months)
    Starts third week of August (date to be determined); Ends last day of school
    Professional Development 1-2 times per month on Saturday as coordinated by the Office of Family and Community Partnerships
    Hours, Hourly Wage and Benefits
    Hourly Wage Range: $21 - $26 per hour (dependent on experience)
    Benefits: Eligible for individual district benefits, including vaction time, medical benefits and paid leave time. No family benefits are included.
    Hours per Week: 30 hours per week plus 4 additional planning hours per month (Split Shift Schedule - see workday below)
    Qualifications:
    The Program Leader for The Tree House Before and After School Program must have a high school diploma, although an associate degree or higher education is preferred
    Experience in education, youth development, afterschool programming and/or childcare field is required
    Med Certification to administer medications as allowed by State and District policy, preferred
    CPR & First Aid required or training received within first 3 months of hire
