BASIC FUNCTION
The assistant director of nursing works under the director of nursing. The assistant director of nursing assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day to day functions of the Nursing department in accordance with the current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care related to the residents needs
- Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must have the ability to deal with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedure as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
- Must be able to assist the Director of Nursing in evaluation of the nursing staff
- Must be able to complete rounds within the building to ensure policies and quality care is being provided.
- Must round with the wound physician weekly.b
- Must ensure that the staffing schedule meets the needs of the residents.
- Must pick up shifts when the scheduled charge nurse “calls-off”.
- Must assist the Director of Nursing in monitoring wounds in the facility and ensuring treatments are in place for these wounds
- Must assist the Director of Nursing in monitoring infection control and ensuring policies are followed according to state and federal guidelines.
- Perform other roles and responsibilities as required
