Ready to join the growing chef to school movement? The WNESU Farm to School Cafe, is a self-op school nutrition program that focuses on nutrient-dense, scratch cooking using local VT ingredients. We operate at 7 public schools in southeastern VT (Rockingham, Westminster, Saxtons River, Athens, and Grafton). We believe that school meals are a crucial part of education, and we work to create great food experiences that nourish and inspire students with a life-long interest in nutrition. Some of the best food in the world is grown and made right here in VT and our work is to make sure it is available to everyone in the community.We are seeking talented chefs and cooks who are ready to bring their culinary perspective to the thriving farm to cafeteria culture of southern VT. We make homemade pizza dough every Wednesday and fresh-baked breakfast items every week. We are constantly searching for new recipes that will be successful with our students, and finely tuning the classics that have been nourishing kids for generations. The School Nutrition Assistant (Cook) is responsible for the daily preparation of school meals. Duties include: cooking, baking, mise/prep, cleaning/sanitizing equipment, dishes & utensils, and ensuring that the kitchen is impeccably clean/sanitary.
