Windermere Preparatory School is Hiring a Head Athletic Trainer Near Windermere, FL

Organization: Windermere Preparatory School is located on a beautiful 48 acre campus in Southwest Orange County. Windermere Preparatory School's academic approach is built on complex problem solving and critical thinking, emphasizes intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth, and culminates with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

Description: Windermere Preparatory School is in search of a motivated and committed Certified Athletic Trainer with at least 3-5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will prioritize the health and welfare of our student athletes, spanning grades 6-12. This role entails comprehensive athletic training duties within our dynamic, diverse athletics and wellness programs. The compensation package is competitive and tailored to match the candidate's experience and credentials.

Candidates with prior experience in independent school settings, coaching expertise in a sport, and/or certification in strength and conditioning are preferred. The position directly reports to the Director of Athletics.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides and coordinates medical coverage for middle school and upper school athletics
  • Travels with high risk/contact teams to away contests.
  • Supervises and manages the collection of required FHSAA participation forms through Magnus Health and communicates with students, parents and coaches for incomplete forms.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of injuries, provide immediate care and treatment.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including strength and conditioning, exercises, flexibility routines, and proper warm-up techniques.
  • Manage and maintain sports medicine equipment and supplies, ensuring they are readily available and in good condition.
  • Coordinates medical appointments.
  • Communicates with parents about student injuries.
  • Submits injury reports to on campus medical staff and completes injury/rehabilitation documentation.
  • Assists Windermere Prep nurses with athletic related issues.
  • Establishes current and appropriate medical protocols and emergency action plans.
  • Assists with rehabilitative needs of student-athletes.
  • Assists with assuring all athletic coaches are CPR/AED certified.
  • Additional responsibilities to include other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field.
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and state licensure
  • CPR, AED, First Aid Certification
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of sports injuries, treatment modalities, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Organizational skills to manage medical records, schedules, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with athletes, coaches, and medical professionals.
  • High-energy, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which time-sensitive deadlines are the norm, as are interruptions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.

  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in sports medicine.

  • Provide leadership skills and ability to work closely with the Director of Athletics in providing a worthwhile learning experience for all athletes.
  • Capacity to strike a good balance between engaging students and setting appropriate boundaries.
  • Superior customer service skills and a collaborative, friendly demeanor.
  • Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.

Work Hours: full time - salary position/12 month position. Work schedule may vary depending on special events at the school, but a typical schedule will be based on the daily schedule.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
