Summary:

Responsible for the manufacturing operations of an assigned shift by assigning work and providing hands-on supervision while following directives, policies and procedures of the company.

Functions:

1. Directly supervises production staff that includes production, print and packing leads, forklift driver and shift mechanic.
2. Directly manages a workforce of approximately 25 to 35 hourly employees engaged in the manufacturing of foam cups, containers and / or straws.
3. Complete quality, efficiency and production reports daily.
4. Responsible for safely achieving established production schedules and efficiencies while monitoring equipment, processes and operating techniques on a continuous basis to assure quality standards are met.
5. Coordinates with the maintenance department to maintain equipment and utilities in proper working condition and monitors to assure equipment is utilized in a safe and efficient manner.
6. Ensures maximum use of raw materials while minimizing scrap levels to attain company standards.
7. Provides accurate records of production, employee absenteeism, accidents, wage increases, vacations and overtime. Responsible for data input into computer programs/systems as required for records.
8. Works with quality control personnel to ensure product quality and takes appropriate action(s) when necessary based on the information they provide.
9. Conducts job, safety and ad-hoc training sessions with shift personnel.
10. Communicates and enforces company work rules and policies.
11. Enforces plant safety rules, housekeeping standards and employee work practices in accordance with company policies and OSHA/FDA regulations.
12. Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines.
13. Performs annual performance evaluations of direct reports and shift employees.
14. Responsible for controlling and monitoring attendance and punctuality of the entire shift.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by Production or Plant Manager.

Physical Demands:

1. Work an 8 or 12 hour shift while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, use hands to finger, grasp with hands and arms, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and lifting throughout the entire shift.
2. Requires the manual movement of cases of finished goods that weight up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

1. Exposed to extreme heat. In-doors in a manufacturing environment that is not air conditioned.
2. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
3. Wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
4. Work 12 hour day shift
5. Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime

Qualifications:

 Experience – Three years of supervision in a manufacturing environment

Skills – Mechanical aptitude; computer literate (preferably using Excel, Microsoft Office and PayCom), good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write and speak English; have good problem solving and organizational skills;
