Wilson’s Orchard & Farm is a farm, food, and beverage business with locations in Iowa City and Des Moines. Our mission is to help develop local, ethical and regenerative food and farm systems in our communities.

We're looking for a passionate and skilled baker to join our team and help us create manage production and development of high-quality pizza dough and bread for our guests!

Responsibilities:

• Execute bulk ferments and managing dough schedules.
• Weigh and measure ingredients to prepare a variety of doughs according to recipes.
• Mix doughs using mixers and other equipment, ensuring proper consistency and hydration.
• Shape dough by hand or using equipment to form pies, loaves, baguettes, rolls, and other bread varieties.
• Load and operate ovens to bake breads according to specific temperatures and timings.
• Monitor bread as it bakes, making adjustments as needed to ensure proper browning and quality.
• Collaborate with managers and staff to maximize workflow efficiency and quality
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply requirements.
• Rotate breads during baking for even cooking.
• Unload baked breads and cool them on racks.
• Work as a fully integrated team member in a busy, creative kitchen.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all food safety regulations.
• Perform basic cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
• May assist with packaging and labeling of finished breads.

Qualifications:

• A passion for fermentation and bread making.
• Minimum 1 year of experience baking bread in a professional setting, or relevant apprenticeship.
• Strong understanding of bread-making principles, including the science of dough, fermentation, and the relevant ingredients.
• Ability to follow recipes precisely and scale them as needed.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen staff, floor staff, and guests.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of baking equipment and their proper use.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
