Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Canby, OR
Wilson Construction has an immediate opening for a Cost Accountant at our headquarters in Canby, Oregon.
The Cost Accountant position is an integral part of the Accounting and Finance department. The position requires a penchant for detail, and the
person should have excellent analytical skills, as well as an ability to effectively communicate with various management levels across Accounting and Operations departments. This position requires a high acumen in cost accounting. Prior work experience in Project Cost accounting is required, preferably in the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Accounting Manager, Asst. Controller and Controller in managing the overall job costing function.
• Interface with Project Managers and Operations to perform monthly Job Costing of construction projects.
• Use the Percentage of Completion method of accounting to recognize job performance.
• Analyze variance trends between actual and budget/forecast; research significant variations and recommend appropriate response to management.
• Assist Accounting Manager with review of subcontractor invoices posted to projects and setup of subcontractor commitments into our accounting software.
• Review MS Project Schedules to align percent complete with budget, and monthly project accounting.
• Review Cost in Excess of Billings and Billings in Excess of Cost reports and determine any variance in project performance.
• Prepare and enter adjusting journal entries for month end close.
• Prepare monthly Revenue, Direct Cost and Gross Margin Analysis for each project.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 3 years working in Project Cost Accounting, Construction Industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, SAGE 300 CRE and Prophix experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook , Sharepoint and MS Project.
