Wellness Director

Job Summary/Position Overview:

The Wellness Director serves on the community’s leadership team and is responsible for the leadership and direction of all resident care department staff, care related services, coordination with third party providers and compliance with Willow River Senior Living standards and federal and state regulations.

  • Ensuring the delivery of competent and compassionate care to all residents
  • Excellent clinical outcomes evidenced by quality assurance data, resident retention and customer satisfaction
  • Excellent staff retention
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding Our standards for resident care, communication and people
  • Excellent outcomes in resident and employee safety and state regulatory surveys
  • Excellent communication and a collaborative relationship with Executive Director, other department heads, and corporate partners

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent assessment, service planning and delivery of care and services at the appropriate level for each resident
  • Maintain Willow River Senior Living systems for implementing, monitoring and measuring quality assurance and compliance with resident care and risk management programs
  • Oversee and ensure excellence with the delivery and management of medications
  • Build and support a high-performing team of caregivers and nurses through effective hiring, training and coaching
  • Provide excellent care delivery approaches for residents with cognitive impairments
  • Ensure resident records are maintained according to state regulatory standards
  • Provide initial and ongoing training for all care department staff and other department staff as needed
  • Participate in the recruitment, retention and discharge decisions for all residents
  • Conduct care plan meetings with family members and third-party providers as needed
  • Implement successful strategies for labor expense control
  • Develop monthly staffing schedules according to department budget
  • Participate actively in all safety and quality-focused evaluation programs
  • Maintain excellent communication with families and manage concerns as needed respecting privacy and HIPAA laws
  • Ensure that the Willow River way is fully in place and that the community’s culture attracts and supports excellent employees
  • Maintain excellent communication and a collaborative and open relationship with corporate partners
  • Maintain accurate records for use in supervision and control of staff and supplies
  • Conduct yearly performance appraisals and regular involvement in decisions regarding employee hiring, firing, advancement and promotion, setting rates of pay and hours of work
  • Handle departmental employees’ complaints and grievances and direct their work
  • Timely handle scheduling and maintain expense control in compliance with budget
  • After hours availability for emergency calls; rotating manager on duty obligations during scheduled weekends
  • Assume Executive Director responsibilities when Executive Director is absent from the community
  • Other, related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Active RN or LPN license in applicable state
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least three years’ experience in resident care management
  • Experience supervising and scheduling front line staff
  • Proficiency of computer systems, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word, experience using a CRM system preferred
  • Experience with budget management
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience with QA/QI programs
  • Ability to take calls and work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Ability to travel once per quarter overnight
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Compliance with community-wide job requirements
