Williamsville Central School is Hiring a Summer School Teacher Aides - Multiple positions Near East Amherst, NY

Teacher Aide - Multiple positions Location: Heim Middle School (Summer School Special Education Program) Dates: July 8 - August 16 Times: 8:00am - 2:30 pm Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Position Title: 8:1:1 and 12:1:1 Classroom Aide -- Experience and Requisite Skills and Knowledge :
  • Experience and ability to work with students, particularly students with physical disabilities and developmental delays.
  • Willingness to assist non-ambulatory students and/or students with physical challenges (wheelchair transfer; restroom assistance and toileting; carrying books, backpack, etc.)
  • Physical ability to execute job responsibilities to include transferring and/or lifting (such as assisting with manual transfer of student from seated to standing position, from one position to another, etc.).
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of adaptive equipment and utilize such to support student access to instruction and/or environment.
  • Ability to take direction from classroom teacher and/or related service providers.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to implement student feeding plans.
  • Willingness to support students in his/her attainment of IEP goals as per direction provided by the child's special education teacher.
  • Flexible, patient and gentle manner.
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
Job Responsibilities:
  • To provide close supervision of students during all transitions from sit to stand and during traveling throughout the school setting.
  • To closely supervise students as they ambulate throughout the school environment.
  • To give verbal cues and prompts, as well as physical assistance to students as needed.
  • To clear pathways and assist students to negotiate a busy classroom setting.
  • To provide assistance with lifting, as needed.
  • To assist with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding, if needed.
  • To provide assistance with learning tasks as directed by the classroom teacher and all related service providers

Position Title: 15:1:1 Classroom/and or Personal Aide -- Experience and Requisite Skills and Knowledge :
  1. Must be willing to work with students with disabilities.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work with high school aged students, particularly students with physical disabilities and developmental delays.
  3. Must be willing to assist non-ambulatory students and/or students with physical challenges (wheelchair transfer; restroom assistance and toileting; carrying books, backpack, etc.)
  4. Physical ability to execute job responsibilities to include transferring and/or lifting (such as assisting with manual transfer of student from seated to standing position, from one position to another, etc.).
  5. Must be willing to gain knowledge of adaptive equipment and utilize such to support student access to instruction and/or environment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and in a collaborative manner with teachers and related services providers.
  7. Demonstrated ability to take direction and work independently when teacher is working with other students.
  8. Must be willing to assist with feeding and the implementation of student feeding plans.
  9. Must be willing to assist with toileting needs.
  10. Must be able to respond effectively to challenging student behaviors.
  11. Must be able to implement behavioral intervention plans under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  12. Must provide supervision to students in community-based internship settings and complete progress monitoring data sheets.
  13. Must be willing to support students in his/her attainment of IEP goals as per direction provided by the child's special education teacher.
  14. Demonstrated ability to maintain student confidentiality.
