Williamsville Central School is Hiring a Summer School Special Education 8:1+A Middle School Near East Amherst, NY
Special Education 8:1 A District Class ( with specialty in working with students with Autism & Behavior Needs) LOCATION: Heim Middle School DATES: (Monday through Friday for six weeks) July 8 - August 16, 2024 July 1, 2024 (setup) and August 18, 2024 (closure) STUDENT HOURS: 8:00 am - 2:30 pm Special Ed Teacher 8:1:1 - Experience and requisite skills and knowledge:
3 - 5 years direct experience in Systematic Instruction (Applied Behavior Analysis) and development of lesson plans incorporating discrete trials.
Extensive knowledge of a variety of developmental disabilities, most specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the potential affects upon a student's academic functioning and behavior.
A strong working knowledge of Federal and State mandates pertaining to developmental disabilities.
Demonstrated skill in Functional Behavioral Assessment and development of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
Knowledge of the resources and support systems available to assess the daily functioning of students with developmental disabilities.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills, and organizational skills.
The ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative team as well as schedule and coordinate a variety of service providers.
Effective case management and resource management skills and experience in fulfilling individual student needs and conducting classroom activities.
Education and Certification:
Valid NYS certification in Special Education K-12; possession of a Master's degree in Special Education.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides content area instruction to students in accordance with curricular expectations and Individualized Education Plans
Determines specific learning problems, skill deficiencies, or social adjustment difficulties of students and initiates individual remediation programs in each area.
Evaluates each student in terms of initial needs and progress toward accomplishment of learning goals.
Prepares progress reports and periodic evaluations.
Establishes and maintains standards of individual student behavior.
