Williams Foods is Hiring a Cloud Production Operator - 2nd Shift - 2pm-10:30pm - $24.22* per hour Near Lenexa, KS

Entry level position to learn and operate complex packaging machines and provide support and backup for operators and packers by performing the following duties.

  • Additional $1.50 per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6pm-6am
  • Must be flexible for overtime and weekend work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following essential functions and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned by management based on business needs.

  • Sets up, starts complex lines using checklists and center lining and observes operations to detect any machine malfunctions.
  • Performs assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Make weight and roll stock adjustments and report malfunctions to Team Leader, Manufacturing Manager and/or maintenance.
  • Make adjustments or repairs to line machinery to keep lines running smoothly and efficiently and make sure necessary supplies are readily available.
  • Maintain adequate supply of blend and maintain accurate logs. Deliver empty totes to blending department and full totes to mezzanine.
  • Inspect filled containers to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications and is properly coded and labeled.
  • Replenish packaging supplies such as rolls of paper, plastic bags, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels, locator tags and windows for locator tags.
  • Maintain adequate supply of shippers.
  • Minimize scrap and waste.
  • Check metal detector function in accordance with quality assurance regulations. Calibrate check-weigher to operate within control limits of each product.
  • Drain product from machine hopper as needed and vacuum machine thoroughly and/or wet clean with sanitary quality assurance specs.
  • Examine and document work orders for special instructions and proper packaging components.
  • Complete paperwork neatly and accurately. Include verifying tare weight, proper packing material, work order, scrap, daily production reports and completed pallets.
  • Assist with packing on a daily basis by alternating with packer on your line by performing the following:
    • Manually pack boxes of good/rejected envelopes of product.
    • Make adjustments as required to maintain quality standards.
    • Weigh containers and adjust quantity.
    • Inspect product and packaging materials at each step of process.
    • Record information such as weight, time, and date packaged and check code date.
  • Participate in high speed improvement team.
  • Keep work area sanitary and orderly.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures and good manufacturing practices at all times.
  • Coordinate downtime duties with Lead, Team Leader and/or Manufacturing Manager.
  • Rotate break and lunch schedules to keep line running and to allow maintenance repairs.
  • Document downtime on specific pieces of machinery.
  • Clean entire line as needed.
  • Assist in training new high-speed operators and packers as needed.
  • Report unsafe conditions and work-related accidents to Team Leader, Manufacturing Manager or Safety Manager immediately.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Education/Certifications:
High school diploma or GED; or knowledge or familiarity with mechanical, electrical and electronics; or up to one year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret manuals and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Proficiencies: Experience as a machine operator, preferably on packaging machines. Work related experience in a technical and/or mechanical position and an understanding of the benefits of preventative maintenance practices.
Computer Skills: Ability to operate and understand basic computer programs up to but not limited to Word, Excel, and Label Matrix.
