We're a thriving candle business nestled in the heart of Portland, OR, dedicated to crafting high-quality, small-batch soy candles that narrate our love and passion for the outdoors. Our scents, inspired by the trails of Forest Park, weave a story of nature, movement and community. Position Overview:
As a Candle Production Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in our product manufacturing process. Your responsibilities will evolve over time, starting with post-production finishing touches such as labeling and shelving candles. Eventually we will dive into various aspects of our operations, including candle making, packing, shipping, inventory management, and maintaining a pristine workspace. This dynamic role requires a keen eye for detail, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality. You'll receive comprehensive training, ensuring you become a well-rounded member of our candle crafting team.

After a one-month trial training period, this will be a hybrid of solo work and working alongside me (the owner). On occasion, the space can smell strongly of fragrance — something to be aware of if you have a sensitivity to smells. We also will have opportunities to produce candles for other businesses.

Responsibilities:

• Labeling, finishing, and shelving candles
• Prepping candle production (setting out jars, preparing wicks)
• Assisting with courier shipment pickups
• Lifting 50 lb boxes of wax and loading the melter
• Pouring hot wax with precision
• Wearing PPE, including apron, to prevent spills
• Working independently and collaboratively
• Maintaining focus during repetitive tasks
• Greeting challenges with strong problem-solving skills
• Adhering to safety guidelines, fire prevention awareness, and PPE requirements

Desired Skills (but not mandatory):

• Previous candle production experience (we'll provide training)
• Experience in food preparation, service industry, or manual labor
