THE ROLE: Assistant Controller

LOCATION: Waukesha, WI

REPORTS TO: Corporate Controller

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, exempt

OUR OPPORTUNITY:

The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller in managing the accounting functions including cost, payables and reporting. Responsible for financial reporting, planning, and budgeting including required legal filings. Provides leadership to the accounting assistant and lead accounting assistant.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists Corporate Controller with monthly closing process, including journal entry processing, entries related to inventory and standard costs, balance sheet reviews, reserve analysis and account reconciliations.
• Prepares and/or oversees annual, quarterly, and monthly sales tax reporting, ensuring tax system (Avalera) is updated and confirms taxes are properly calculated.
• Assists in coordination of the annual physical inventory process, annual bonus and profit-sharing calculation, and fixed asset reporting.
• Analyze variances from standard costs and draw meaningful conclusions from the data with a goal of reducing variances by continuous improvement.
• Supports cost accounting, accounts payable, billing and collections as needed.
• Leadership responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, training, development and performance management and goal setting which includes ongoing and annual performance evaluations

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required.
• Minimum of five years of related technical accounting experience including public accounting and auditing experience. Previous leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
• Competent in key workplace tools including Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Proficiency in Excel includes creating macros and pivot tables.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Quality conscious with a high level of attention to detail.
• Physical Requirements include twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, pulling, extended periods of standing, ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
