widener University is Hiring a Community Engagement Manager Near Wilmington, DE

Widener University Delaware Law School is currently seeking a Community Engagement Manager for Innocence Project Delaware. Reporting to Innocence Project Delaware's Executive Director, this role provides support to Innocence Project Delaware's Community Engagement efforts including fundraising, communications, event planning and volunteer supervision and engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :

Essential duties:

  • Identify potential donors and steward those donors to support Innocence Project Delaware's mission of helping the wrongfully convicted.
  • Plan and execute community events and attend other organization's events, as well as direct donor solicitation.
  • Interview, hire, onboard and train Innocence Project Delaware's community-based volunteers. (Are they doing scheduling as well?
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders
  • Represent the IPD at various types of outreach events to build a coalition of support
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of communications and advocacy materials including presentations, briefing documents, data analysis, etc.
  • Assist with event production, advocacy campaigns, and coordination of conference sponsorships and supporting outreach materials.
  • Assist in developing and executing proactive fund-raising strategies for existing and potential donor.
  • Review and manage reporting produced by outside contractors for project media summaries, social media reports, stakeholder engagement dashboards, and other reporting to ensure contractors are executing to scopes and that information is being shared within the project team.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Raise awareness of Innocence Project Delaware's mission by writing a quarterly e-newsletter and regularly communicating with the community and supporters via social media and direct mail platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a background in communications, community organizing, fundraising and marketing. Two years of post-graduate experience in a similar position is required.
  • Cooperative, positive outlook with an ability to work well in a small, close-knit office and a willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Highly organized, capable of meeting deadlines, and tracking data.
  • Creative and able to take a leadership role in event planning and campaign conceptualization.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively through both speaking and writing.
  • Commitment to Innocence Project Delaware's mission of helping the wrongfully convicted in Delaware, educating the community about the causes of wrongful conviction and working to make Delaware's criminal legal system less subject to error.
  • Ability to drive and willingness to travel to attend events, with reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • Ability to translate documents into Spanish or French Creole preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Driving, with a valid license and reliable transportation
  • In connection with event planning, some lifting of boxes and materials is required.
  • Some weekends and evenings.
