Chair of the Medical Laboratory Sciences reports to the College Dean and represents the college within the university and community, maintaining collaborative relationships with the entire college and its external stakeholders. Participates in executing the essential operations of the college, and in college-wide strategic planning that is essential to the determination of future educational needs of the students. The Chair of Medical Laboratory Sciences is responsible for departmental organization and administration to include admissions, budget, personnel, program development, faculty development, course scheduling, and strategic planning. Responsible for providing oversight of activities related to ongoing program assessment and accreditation; general effectiveness of the programs and faculty; guiding the creative/scholarly activity of the department; and promoting collaborative scholarship and Interprofessional/interdisciplinary education and collaborative practice within the college, across the university, and in the community. As a member of the college’s Executive Council and Chair of the Medical Laboratory Sciences must be fully engaged in continuously and collaboratively diagnosing, disrupting, and innovating to meet the adaptive challenges facing the college.
