About the Role
WHYY offers the public relations interns a great opportunity to create/facilitate station events with strong public draws, diversify their writing skills, learn to write for different audiences, refine their interviewing skills and build a solid portfolio of publications.
The Public Information intern will:
Learn to write press releases and news stories for internal and external communications vehicles including newsletters and social media
Assist with organizing press clips, building and updating news media lists and other assignments
Work with internal staff to create and facilitate public facing events
Assist in supporting organizational Public Relations strategies and strategic plans.
Students majoring in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism are preferred.
The ideal candidate must have strong writing, editing and organizational skills and an ability to meet deadlines. A working knowledge of news writing style is recommended.
