Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Reports to: Director of Business and Finance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include (but not limited to)

• Enter and prepare employee payroll on a biweekly basis
• Record and track all staff requests for time off (vacation, sick and personal time)
• Process all employee changes for direct deposit, personal contact information and payroll deductions
• Provide employees information regarding payroll, healthcare and dental insurance, and retirement deductions
• Maintain accurate master database of staff payroll and budget information
• Calculate terminal leave payments
• Process periodic stipend payments
• Coordinate and process payments of 403b and tax-sheltered annuities
• Coordinate and process longevity payments for staff per contract
• Coordinate and process salary adjustments
• Submit retirement board reports and contributions on a biweekly basis
• Process deduction reporting for MA Teacher's Retirement and Plymouth County Retirement
• Process Federal and State reporting as required
• Prepare tax deposits on a biweekly basis
• Research payroll and retirement data for former and current employees as needed
• Provide employee and payroll verification to third party vendors
• Perform all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Payroll processing experience for organizations with over 400 employees
• Knowledge of employee benefits
• 3-5 years personnel experience
• Harper’s, Munis and Frontline Absence Management software systems experience preferred
• Experience with MTRS deduction reporting preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment noise or physical surroundings may be distracting. The work involves sitting, standing, walking and stooping. May be required to lift objects such as files, boxes of papers, office supplies and office equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, using office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers, handheld technology and other office equipment. Visual demands require routinely reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.

Employment Terms

• Work year of 12 months
• Salary, benefits, and hours as specified in individual contract negotiated with the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District

Evaluation

The Director of Business and Finance shall evaluate the Payroll Specialist annually.
