Clinic Manager
The Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for daily patient care and flow in eye care clinic.
- Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.
- Performs technical workups, and special testing.
- Gathers exam focused, comprehensive histories
- Ensures proper documentation of the medical record
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, medications, symptoms, etc.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used.
- Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
- Assists in minor surgery.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular meds.
- Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories in electronic health record.
- Accurately performs:
- Keratometry
- Tonometry
- Visual Fields
- Amsler Grid
- Muscle Testing
- Pupil Exams
- Color Vision Testing
- Utilizes proper eye drop technique and sterility.
- Understands characteristics of common anterior segment disorders.
- Displays consistent professionalism.
- Is energetic and empathetic with patients.
- Consistently display positive rapport with fellow employees.
- Cooperates with supervisory staff and physicians.
- Scribes for physician.
- Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
