The Dining Room Manager shall assist the Food Service Director and Chefs in ensuring the residents have an enjoyable dining experience at each meal. The Dining Room Manager will do this by training, supervising, and supporting the Dietary Aides, who are responsible for daily food service.

Reporting Relationships:

The Dining Room Manager reports directly to the Food Service Director

Responsibilities:

• In partnership with the Food Service Director and the Chefs, the Dining Room Manager creates a uniformity in how the Dining Room is set up before each meal, food and drink are provided to residents, and trains/schedules the Dietary Aides in accordance with their weekly schedules and/or Co-Op cycle.
• Manages the staff schedules through the ConnectTeam App and posts open shifts as needed
• Conducts daily assessments during each meal to determine if additional staffing or training is required and validate any need for additional dishware, silverware, or linens.
• Interviews potential Dietary Aides in accordance with the department needs.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new Dietary Aides
• Manages the daily attendance of residents at all meals and reports findings to Reception and Wellness Department
• Steps in to support the Dietary Aides if there is a staff shortage.
• Identifies and assists in the resolution of resident complaints.
• Acts as a liaison between the Chefs, Dietary Aides, and residents/caregivers.
• Is mindful of any dietary needs or preference that residents have to ensure their dining experience is consistent with our abilities and their expectations.
• Communicates any concerns regarding resident difficulty at meals to the Wellness Department
• Works with the Wellness Department to determine if routine escorts are required for residents to attend daily meals.
• Manages the seating chart and helps with place settings if a resident changes tables or arrives late.
• Always maintaining a clean and safe environment in the Dining Room.
• Works with Maintenance & Housekeeping to address cleanliness beyond the traditional duties of the Dietary Aides.
• Maintains a positive attitude and promotes teamwork on shift.
• Assists with room delivery management if Dietary Aides or Wellness Department is unable to assist with timely delivery.
• Speaks with resident caregivers if there are concerns that need to be presented to the Food Service Department as a whole.
• Such other duties as may be requested by the Food Service Director or Executive Director

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Candidates shall never have been convicted of a felony
• 1-2 years of related experience in Food Service or Senior Housing
• Experience working with the elderly and disabled a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Scheduling experience a plus
• Ability to work independently and is sensitive to the needs of the elderly
• Flexible schedule
