Responsibilities

In this position you will assist in the development of transportation design projects for clients such as FDOT, counties and municipalities. The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects. This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans. The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from a number of delivery methods including conventional publicly bid projects and design build.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college in engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency with civil design programs such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads, etc.
  • 8 years relevant design experience with a civil engineering consulting firm
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
