The focus of this position is supporting the efficient collection, management, and maintenance of business development data. The business development specialist is responsible for soliciting employee and other firm information needed to support state DOT, federal, and other public agency prequalification processes and vendor registrations. The successful candidate will be proactive, persistent, and have the ability to obtain and submit needed information while complying with competing deadlines. This position requires multi-tasking, problem solving, independent thinking, research, ability to interpret varying guidelines and instructions, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for: 

  • Solicits, gathers, reviews, and submits information to public agencies and clients
  • Research, compile, and maintain relevant information for vendor registration and agency prequalifications
  • Gathers employee and other information through interviews or email and finalizes for submittal
  • Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities
  • Assists with monitoring and maintaining database for business development-related purposes

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Assertive and persistent in obtaining needed information
  • Ability to collect, organize, and assimilate large amounts of data
  • Adaptable, accountable, and resourceful with a strong work ethic
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills and a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication and time management skills

Knowledge, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • Associate degree in business or related field required or equivalent work experience, Bachelor degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a professional environment
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
  • Must have the ability to work well with others (e.g., supervisor, department managers, project managers, and anyone involved in business development efforts)
