You think strategically and are a skilled litigation paralegal energized by the opportunity to support a world-class timberlands owner and wood products manufacturer. Are you ready to join us?

We are a fast-moving team responsible for managing a large litigation docket supporting all stages of litigation from discovery through trial, as well as providing pre-litigation dispute resolution advice to our internal clients and our in-house law department colleagues. You will work with a diverse team of lawyers and paralegals and will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel who manages litigation.

Primary Responsibilities for this Role

In this role, you will:

  • Research, analyze, prepare, review, and verify discovery responses on behalf of the Company
  • Assist in all aspects of litigation, from discovery to managing issues with outside counsel, preparing Company employees for deposition and trial, coordinating experts and site visits, attending mediation, and making recommendations on case resolution
  • Manage hard copy records, including search for and pull boxes from the document management system
  • Organize and maintain electronic files
  • Review legal documents for execution by corporate officers; keep current on notarial rules and recording requirements in various states

  • Respond to third party subpoenas
  • Research and prepare summaries of case-related data for internal review
Qualifications

Experience: You have at least 4 years of litigation experience in a high-volume law firm environment managing discovery, working closely with clients and working in all aspects of litigation. Additional experience as a litigation paralegal in-house is a plus.

Proactive: You don’t wait to be told what to do. You anticipate what needs to be done and make it happen. You take ownership in keeping our team organized and working efficiently.

Organized: You have exceptional organizational skills and are able to manage multiple assignments, working with different in-house and external counsel at a time, supporting large complex cases, as well as managing smaller matters on your own.

Flexible: You are able to work at our Headquarters in Seattle three days a week (Tues-Thurs). Our team is responsible for a wide variety of activities, and our work environment is always evolving. We’re looking for someone who can roll with shifting priorities and juggle them with ease.

Attention to Detail: Some tasks will be big, and some will be small, but they all require attentive care to ensure accuracy and excellence.

Communication: Clear and professional communication skills – both written and oral – are a must. We often work on confidential, privileged, or proprietary matters, so sound judgment and discretion are also required.

Professionalism: We interact with people at all levels within the company as well as outsiders. We hold ourselves to a high standard of professionalism, both within our team and in our dealings with others.

People Skills: You enjoy working collaboratively with all levels of an organization. You listen well, treat others with kindness and empathy, and are good at building relationships.

Technical Skills: You are comfortable with technology and are proficient in Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams and Excel. Experience with Tracker, OnBase, Iron Mountain Connect and Relativity earns you a gold star!

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred (paralegal certificate is a plus!) or equivalent Weyerhaeuser experience.
