Job Description

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is currently seeking Hospice Volunteers for Westminster Canterbury At Home. 

Westminster Canterbury At Home offers personalized and exceptional Home Health Care, Home Care, and Hospice services in private home settings in Virginia Beach and surrounding areas. 

This is a volunteer position and is not compensated for services performed. Volunteers work with patients as assigned by the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.

What will I do?

Our Hospice Volunteers provide support for hospice patients' physical, social, emotional, vocational, spiritual, and cognitive needs through one or more of the following: patient care, bereavement, and/or office support services.

  • Assist with homemaker chores, run errands, and provide respite care.
  • Participate in volunteer support groups and/or educational in-services.
  • Maintain open communications regarding patient's status and any useful feedback with the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Interact with hospice patients in a manner compliant with their rights.
  • At direction of Coordinator, implement special projects to address the needs of hospice patients/family caregivers.

What do I need for this role?

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with emphasis on communicating well with the elderly.
  • Access to transportation to and from the facility.
  • Background check (required).
  • Must be mature, supportive of hospice concept, comfortable with his/her spirituality, and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity.
