Job Description

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is currently hiring a Full Time Night LPN Enhanced Services Supervisor.

Our Full-Time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits on the first day of employment!

What will I do?

The ES Supervisor oversees nursing personnel in Enhanced Services on an assigned shift. Job duties are accomplished under the direction Administrator, and according to accepted standards of practice for Assisted Living. Ensures regulatory compliance with the Department of Social Services. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high standard of clinical care for the residents.

Schedule is 7PM-7AM, working 3 days in one week, then 4 days in the next, with an every other weekend rotation.

Other duties include:

  • Assist with the planning and overall nursing care of the residents living in Enhanced Services and The Chesapeake assuming care responsibilities when necessary on assigned shift.
  • Provide supervision of Medication Aides in Enhanced Services; assign and reviews work, review/revise schedules and assignments to ensure residents' needs are met. Directs staff as they perform resident care, dispense medications and treatments, and documents according to Enhanced Services policies and procedures. Provides technical guidance and direction to Medication Aides.
  • Provides input in assessing residents for appropriate level of care prior to admission/discharge to The Hoy Healthcare Center or hospital and monitors residents closely with a change in condition or acute illness.
  • Provides appropriate input into service plans to incorporate residents' needs and preferences, family's desire for care and interdisciplinary input. Provides necessary input for care planning purposes.
  • Notifies Administrator when incidents occur and/or there is a change in a resident's condition. 
  • Monitors completion and accuracy of daily MARs, physician orders, labs, etc.
  • Responsible for new team member orientation staff and providing education to maintain and improve competency.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and personnel actions for team members. Provides feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, transferring, and termination of personnel.
  • Assist with periodic updating of policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of Enhanced Services.
  • Completes mandatory in-services/continuing education as assigned and ensures the same for team members.
  • Empowers residents to self-direct their care and supports this need by coaching and training staff to recognize individual needs.
  • Participates in all departmental and community teams as assigned and promotes a teaming environment.

What do I need for this role?

  • Licensed Practical Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Virginia 
  • Completed training in Uniform Assessment Instrument and Individual Service Plans
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Familiarity with DSS regulations, preferred
  • Experience in concepts of Life Plan Communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google Applications.
