WestLand has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Construction Inspector to join our team in Tucson, Arizona! The construction inspector is responsible to represent Westland's quality assurance program on our client construction projects. These can range from municipal water/wastewater conveyance projects, water treatment projects, environmental compliance projects, and mining projects - no two days are the same! If you like a diversity of tasks, enjoy being in a construction setting, and have an eye for details, then we are looking for you!

What will I be doing?

  • Observing and documenting day-to-day water and wastewater project construction activities.
  • Working with WestLand Project Managers & Engineers and acting as an intermediary with contractors.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications as requested by Engineering.
  • Reviewing and responding to project submittals and Contractor requests for information (RFI's).
  • Ensuring that site safety standards are followed by yourself and are effectively communicated to other WestLand employees.
  • Coordinating meetings and site visits with subconsultants, contractors, and other related professionals.
  • Keeping up to date on the latest inspection standards, ADEQ regulations, specifications, and best practices.
  • Conducting inspections and reporting for storm water prevention plans.
  • Conducting testing of new water/wastewater infrastructure per regulatory standards.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a construction role with water, wastewater, or mining projects.
  • A high school education or G.E.D. is required. An associate degree or trade certification in a construction related field is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable using computers, digital tools, and hand tools.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Water/Wastewater operator certification(s) preferred
  • Understanding of the ADEQ approval process and as-built procedures preferred.
  • NASSCO certification, confined space, OSHA, and/or MSHA training would be considered an asset.
