Job Summary
The Director of Grant Projects and Sponsored Projects, under the direction of the Executive Director, Western Piedmont Foundation, is responsible for the development, submission, administration, and close out of funding proposals that advance the mission of Western Piedmont Community College and assist in the implementation of the institution’s long and short-term goals and objectives. This position can be remote or hybrid.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties
  • Coordinate and process grant applications from conception to submission in partnership with the designated college personnel for federal, state, and private foundations.
  • Provide technical assistance in planning, developing, researching, and submitting grant proposals and reports.
  • Collect and disseminate information about funding opportunities and promote grant opportunities throughout the college
  • Maintain an annual plan/schedule of grant submissions that support institutional goals, priorities, and activities.
  • Research grants topics and concepts and maintains an information database for grant development.
  • Serve as the point of contact with local, state and federal funding agencies for Sponsored Projects on behalf of the College and project staff.
  • Coordinate the Carl B. Perkins Career and Technical Education grant
  • Monitor progress toward completion of all performance measures of grant projects and provide continuous support to directors of grant-funded projects to meet the terms and expectations of the grant award.
  • Manage grant performance and compliance communications internally and with funding agency personnel, including scope of work modifications.
  • Ensure proper close-out of all completed grant activities and maintain related documents.
  • Research grant opportunities that would support collaboration between WPCC and other partnerships for regional instructional / training needs.
Hiring Range – Minimum to Midpoint ($3,793 – $4,109/monthly) 12-month position
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Specialized training in grant research and proposal development preferred.
  • Three years grant development and/or administrative experience for a non-profit agency or educational institution preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to draft clear, concise narratives, correspondence, budgets and other documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to independently plan, initiate and complete approved assignments.
  • Interest and flexibility in further developing an innovative model of collaboration among community colleges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Social Sciences, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Grant development experience.
  • Advanced degree.
