Volunteer Services Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications & Development
DEPARTMENT: Communications & Development
JOB SUMMARY
The Volunteer Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and scheduling of individual and group volunteers. Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure the placement is a good fit for the individual’s skills and goals. Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning the volunteer program. Works closely with WMMC Auxiliary as the Auxiliary Liaison to ensure WMMC and volunteer needs are met. Assists with marketing initiatives as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Establish and maintain volunteer resources in the community e.g. Auxiliary, service organizations, schools and universities, churches and other institutions.
  • Develop, conduct and maintain volunteer orientation.
  • Input and maintain relevant data regarding all aspects of volunteer program.
  • Serve other departments in a positive manner when assisting with project requests.
  • Develop and maintain budget for Volunteer Services and ensures that volunteer program operates within its established financial guidelines.
  • Integrate WMMC’s strategic plan (mission/vision/values) into volunteer program services by setting and monitoring progress toward goals.
  • Assure appropriate volunteer staffing to support Medical Center services.
  • Promote volunteer satisfaction and takes necessary action to maintain a productive and motivated staff.
  • Ensure WMMC accomplishes the tactics as outlined in the annual Marketing Plan.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Social Services or related field.
  • 3 years related experience in a volunteer or philanthropy department/ environment with progressive responsibilities required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Managerial, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with all levels of leadership throughout Medical Center and community.
  • Experience with marketing/communications/public relations a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
