ICU Registered Nurse
REPORTS TO: Acute Care Manager
DEPARTMENT: ICU
JOB SUMMARY
A staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional RN who directs and/or performs nursing care to patients assigned to his/her team within the scope of his/her license. The staff RN is responsible to the charge nurse on the unit to which he/she is assigned. This RN must effectively prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment and knowledge of the critically ill patient
  • Demonstrate ability to assist providers with procedures that include but not limited to: arterial lines, central line placement, and ventilators
  • Implement patient care according to planned interventions to attain the patient’s optimal level of function and documents according to policy
  • Demonstrate positive customer service relations
  • Routinely participates in QI projects and encourages department to continuously improve
  • Assist co-workers as needed/requested
  • Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively
  • Demonstrate the understanding of efficiently and appropriately staffing the unit. Key concepts: adjusting staffing levels as indicated, using resources efficiently
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing
  • Currently licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse in the state of Missouri or be eligible to practice as a graduate nurse in the State of Missouri
  • Current BLS required
  • Current ACLS required or obtain within 6 months
  • Current TNCC required or obtain within 6 months
  • This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: Adolescence, early adulthood, and middle age
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic
