Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, removed, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

General Living Learning Community Responsibilities

  • Assist Associate Director for First Year Experience in the recruitment, on-boarding, and expansion of Living Learning Communities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for questions regarding Living Learning Communities, and departmental representative at Admissions recruitment and orientation day events.
  • Assist in the recruitment of students to WKU's Living Learning Communities.
  • Serve as HRL liaison and resource to LLC Faculty Fellows and Program Coordinators in the planning, development, and implementation of Living Learning Communities.
  • Plan, market, and execute large-scale programs for LLC participants (once per semester).
  • Provide leadership to indirect report, HRL Marketing Specialist.
  • Initiate assessment of LLC participant retention, academic success, and overall experience.
  • Develop LLC Peer Mentor program (i.e. role separate from RA, held by past LLC participant).
  • Coordinate special projects within Housing and Residence Life.

Collaboration with Academic Partners

  • Partner with Assistant Director for the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) in the administration of LLCs, particularly their academic aspects, including course selection, pre-registration, and scheduling of in-hall classrooms.
  • Support the Assistant Director for CITL in the planning and execution of LLC Faculty Fellows orientation, training, and communication.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director for CITL to schedule, plan, and co-facilitate monthly LLC Faculty Fellow/Program Coordinator meetings addressing various topics including LLC program planning, marketing, student recruitment and selection.
  • Support LLC Faculty Fellows and Program Coordinators in the planning, marketing, and execution of programs.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communication and Marketing Specialist in the drafting of digital, printed, and virtual LLC marketing and communication materials.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with Area Coordinators and Residence Hall Directors of buildings housing LLCs. Communicate up-coming programs, concerns, and considerations that may impact operational and administrative processes (ex. room changes).
  • Serve as ex-officio member of Student Staff Recruitment Committee. Assist in the recruitment, selection, and placement of Resident Assistants serving LLC participants.

Administration

  • Oversee administrative aspects of the LLC application and selection process via StarRez and the WKU Housing Portal.
  • Assist LLC Faculty Fellows and Program Coordinators in the drafting of Learning Contracts; oversee the administration of Learning Contracts via the WKU Housing Portal.
  • Ensure LLC participants are properly coded and regularly audit LLC rosters for accuracy.
  • Confer with Director of Housing Operations and Associate Director of First Year Experience in the placement and assignment of LLC participants.
  • Manage individual and General LLC budgets, maintain accurate expense records, and provide regular statements to Faculty Fellows and Program Coordinators.
  • Process all LLC Program Proposals and Evaluations utilizing StarRez; track program attendees.
  • Manage the LLC Programming Calendar and reserve in-hall classrooms and programming spaces.
  • Order, purchase, and deliver LLC program supplies.
  • Communicate up-coming LLC programs to Marketing Specialist.
  • Contribute data for the formal assessment of LLCs; partner with Marketing Specialist to collect qualitative data, program photos, and student testimonials.

Creating a Supportive Learning Environment

  • Support residential communities that foster and enhance student learning, development, and academic success.
  • Establish rapport and develop mentoring relationships with residential students.
  • Develop goals and objectives, related to job responsibilities, that align with, and deliver on, organizational priorities.
  • Identify and utilize campus, community, regional, and national resources that assist in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing developmental first-year student orientation program (M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan).
  • Serve on various departmental and campus committees.

Job Requirements:
  • Graduate degree in Counseling and Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or other related field
  • At least three years' experience working in the residential setting
  • Demonstrated professional experience in student housing, student life or student activities
  • Experience in supervision, advising, and leadership development
Additional Information:
  • 12-month, renewable contract

  • Salary range is $45,000 to $47,000, commensurate with experience
