Job Title: Lumberyard Foreman
Western Building Center in Evergreen is seeking a leader who is responsible for the supervision and coordination of yard personnel activities engaged in loading, unloading, storing, transferring, and distributing lumber and various other building materials. This full-time lumberyard foreman position will give you the opportunity to hone your leadership skills and your knowledge of the lumber and building material business while providing our customers with the best customer available. Applicants will need to have a thorough understanding of delivery dispatch and logistics. Lumberyard experience is a must.
Job Requirements:
Supervise all yard operations for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsible for loading, unloading and movement of material on the premises utilizing material handling equipment and machinery; oversees receiving of yard materials.
Inspects loading operations for outgoing delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits and safety regulations.
Maintaining accurate records of current and future inventory.
Ensures that outside areas are kept neat, clean, and yard debris is appropriately recycled of or disposed of.
Comply and enforce all OSHA rules, company Safety Standards, and local policies/procedures to provide a safe working environment. Must recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss.
Assist in delivery runs when needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Competencies:
Working knowledge of yard and product activities on location.
Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase efficiency.
Customer service orientated with a strong desire to do a job well done for that customer.
Must project a professional, positive attitude, and be a self-starter.
Reliable and takes initiative with strong attention to detail.
Ability to read and write work schedules and reports.
Knowledge of basic math, counting, and estimating.
Proficient computer skills.
Forklift experience required and a solid understanding of forklift operations and safety functions.
Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
Ability to work overtime if needed.
Drug screening will be performed.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 80lbs on a regular basis.
While performing the duties of the job, an employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; drive; use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; type/use computer and phone.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions including sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
Work environment: May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels in the yard.
Ability to work outside in varying weather/driving conditions.
